West Sussex Golf Club

About the Club

The Club House
Sited with marvellous aspects in all directions and totally in keeping with the surrounding countryside, the Club-house is well appointed and comfortable and, like the course itself, has many points of interest.

The Professional's Shop
Our Professional Tim Packham sells a wide range of clubs and equipment from a well stocked shop. He and his staff always provide a warm welcome and a courteous and efficient service. Lessons can be booked by phone.

Visitors
All visitors to the West Sussex are required to have verified handicaps at recognised golf clubs and reservations should always be made in advance. West Sussex is essentially a "two ball club" and visitors are expected to play singles or foursomes.

Societies
are welcomed on Wednesdays and Thursdays but, as by far the majority of Societies re-book year after year, there are very few vacancies between March and October.

Casual Visitors
are welcomed on weekdays except for Fridays which are retained solely for the members' use, and occasionally at weekends subject to Club competitions. Visitors should be in possession of current handicap certificates

Membership

The West Sussex welcomes new members. However the Club is fortunate to have a Waiting Pool for membership and it is possible that a new applicant might have to wait up to four years before elected. Younger candidates, especially those with low handicaps, are usually fast-tracked.

Candidates should be proposed and seconded by members of at least 5 years standing, and then must be supported by signature from a further 8 members, of whom 4 should also submit letters of support. Special arrangements can be made for a candidate new to the area to be sponsored by the Committee.
