Hole 15 - 145 yards par 3. Tee shot view

hole_15.jpg

This hole is the most picturesque as well as the shortest and last of the five par threes. Only requiring a mid to short iron, it almost comes as the first relief of the second nine, if, of course, the mandatory carry across a pond can be ignored by the golfing mind.
Beyond the pond, the green is surrounded by trees and trouble and steep banks of heather all round. It has a tier separating back from front with a slope from left to right so pushed or cut shots will fall off into thick grassy hollows. Short shots can fall back off the bank at the front and even back into the pond unless stopped by a grass fringe that sometimes borders the sleepers supporting the green against the water.
Putts from the back of the green are fast, particularly down the slope, or towards the front. Putts up the tier are good tests of pace and line. If offered, take a three here any day and walk to the next tee.
