On Monday 10th December at St Mary’s Church, West Chiltington, the rector Davis Coleman conducted a ceremony of blessing of a plaque newly placed on the wall beside the church entrance gate.
In this 100th year of remembrance of the end of WW1, the plaque was commissioned by the Parish Council to commemorate two holders of the Victoria Cross buried in the village churchyard, Captain Geoffrey Woolley and Major-General Bob Foote.
Bob was a former member, Captain and President of West Sussex Golf Club. At the blessing, the club was represented by Lady Captain, Caroline Sutherland-Pilch.
